Chapter One—lies

Make your first steps into Maya's world! This is the first, unedited chapter of The House of the Grey Dove. You might notice that it's quite short—that's on purpose. My website is still in development, so please be patient: the second chapter will come.

“Welcome... and enter. Are you worthy, my friend? It will not be enough. Come, show the guard the crest—yes, the grey dove on your wrist. Left, or right? Both, my friend, and quickly. Into the cat’s mouth—the silver knocker, yes! Have you never been here before? My mistake, little dove. It seems to me I am as old as this establishment itself. Forgive me then the fault of my memory... or maybe you are one of the rare specimens we incorporated into our ranks on the Outside? Ah, I see. Still, show your crest... and enter, my friend.

“One thing before you go, however: we don’t like liars here at The House of the Grey Dove. Remember that, and you will be fine. Who I am? Oh, I’m not really important. It’s you who create the stories; I’m only here to tell.”
